Focused on Improving Engineering Designs
Monday July 13, 2026 10:00am - 10:50am CDT
Students regularly engage in the engineering design process to solve problems, but with time constraints, we can rush through the testing and improving phases. This session will use hands-on experiences to see how you can engage students in testing and refining prototypes during EDP challenges. We will also connect to cross curricular subjects such as writing prompts and math solutions.

Using Amplify to Facilitate Visual Patterns, Number Talks, and Problem Solving in the Secondary Mathematics Classroom
Monday July 13, 2026 11:00am - 11:50am CDT
This session is primarily tailored for 6-12 math teachers but benefit can be found for all math educators with some modifications for earlier grades. We will use Amplify to focus on warmups that involve visual patterns and number talks that help students to connect visual patterns to their mathematical expressions. The number talks will help students develop numeracy skills and compare their ways of thinking with their peers to help them learn to work flexibly and efficiently with numbers. These tasks will be easy for students to start but encourage deeper thinking and can lead to deeper understanding of more advanced solutions.

Ink and Innovation: How do we transform a static story into an interactive experience?
Monday July 13, 2026 12:00pm - 1:50pm CDT
In Ink & Innovation, we explore the powerful synergy between literacy and hands-on engineering. Moving beyond the margins, this session demonstrates how writing can be elevated when students "build" their narratives using a toolkit of modern technology and classic tactile materials.

What to Expect: We will dive into practical strategies for integrating STEAM tools directly into the writing process:

Interactive Storytelling: Creating "touch-sensitive" storyboards with Makey Makeys that trigger sound effects or digital responses.

Structural Storytelling: Utilizing Strawbees and LEGOs to prototype settings, map out complex plot structures, or build physical metaphors for abstract themes.

Plot Mapping: Using Ozobots we will map out the plot of a story.

The Visual Layer: Blending traditional Art and mixed media to add depth and aesthetic intent to every draft.

Illuminated Learning: Engaging Students with Blacklight Activities
Monday July 13, 2026 1:00pm - 2:50pm CDT
In this interactive workshop, educators will discover how blacklight activities can boost student engagement across subjects.
Learn the science behind UV light, explore creative lesson ideas, and see hands-on demos with fluorescent materials, invisible ink, and glow-in-the-dark elements.
After exploring classroom applications, participants will take part in a printmaking activity under blacklight and experiment with a variety of fluorescent and neon art materials.
Teachers will leave with practical, ready-to-use strategies, along with a product list and links to all materials used in the workshop.

Ignite Your Classroom with PBLs
Tuesday July 14, 2026 12:00pm - 1:50pm CDT
Create community, improve communication skills, and incorporate problem-solving through engaging project-based learning lessons. PBLs are a great way to build creativity in students and cover many standards at once. They connect to real-world occupations and inspire students' futures. These lessons make learning fun and more memorable. They are easy to develop for your classroom no matter which subject you teach. For this 2-hour session, we will use Gemini's GEMs as AI helps us to build a PBL unit to use in your classroom next year.
