Elizabeth Eubanks Von Hofe is Alabama’s 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year. She is a National Board Certified Teacher (Exceptional Needs Specialist/Moderate-Severe Disabilities) who serves as Special Education Department Chair and classroom teacher of students with multiple disabilities in her classroom, CAMP SUNshine (Collaborative, Academic, Multisensory, Project-based learning where Students with Unique Needs Shine), at Spanish Fort Elementary School in Baldwin County, Alabama. With over 20 years of leadership experience across education, healthcare, and nonprofit settings, she brings a collaborative perspective to serving clinically complex students in school environments.Elizabeth holds a Master of Business Administration Degree in Healthcare Management from the University of Alabama, an Alternative Master of Education degree in Collaborative Teaching from the University of South Alabama, and is currently completing a post-master’s certificate in instructional leadership at the University of West Alabama. She is multi-certified in general education early childhood-6th grade and special education early childhood-12th grade. She is also a former licensed healthcare administrator, where she led multidisciplinary teams and developed systems to support multigenerational patients with significant medical and functional needs and was recognized for her leadership in patient/family satisfaction, employee turnover reduction, and clinical leadership in quality care indicators. This background allows her to bridge the gap between medical services and educational practice—ensuring students receive coordinated, ethical, and effective support in schools.Elizabeth develops individualized programs, collaborates with therapists and families, and supports school teams in navigating the challenges of related services for students with complex needs. She is passionate about empowering educators to understand their roles, advocate appropriately, and create inclusive environments where all students can thrive.
