About me
Connie Arnold is the Regional Coordinator for the Office of Mathematics Improvement (OMI) at the Alabama State Department of Education. With over 15 years of experience in education, she has served as a classroom teacher, librarian, and Secondary Math Specialist with the Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI).
In her current role, Connie has developed a strong appreciation for understanding the broader educational context and approaching her work as a big‑picture learner. As a leader in K–5 mathematics, she is focused on preparing students to thrive and contribute in a global society. Connie believes that mathematics is a universal language. It is one in which all students can participate, grow, and develop the problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills needed for an ever‑changing world.
Connie is deeply passionate about mathematics and equity in education and is committed to ensuring that all students have meaningful opportunities to learn and reach their full potential, regardless of socio‑economic background. Her philosophy reflects Stefan Banach’s belief that “Mathematics is the most beautiful and most powerful creation of the human spirit.”
She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Elementary Education from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, as well as a master’s degree in Library Media and Instructional Leadership certification from the University of West Alabama. Connie also holds a National Certificate for STEM Teaching (NCST).
Connie is married to James Arnold, and they are the proud parents of one child, Jamirah Arnold.
